Get the moving crew ready!

Things are finally coming to an end out at lot 111 Grove Hill this week as the landscaping wraps up and the garage doors are installed and painted. With the sod down, plants will be brought in this week and will finish off this beautiful home. We are excited to see this young family move in and enjoy their new home!

Lot 251 Asheton Lakes

Work has begun once again in Asheton Lakes with a new home on lot 251. After several meetings with our clients in Birmingham, the home is well on its way! We are currently setting in the doors and windows, and then we will begin roughing in mechanical and plumbing. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we can begin roofing and brick work and get the ball rolling! We are also evaluating some creative hardscaping ideas….any suggestions?

Back to work in Moore’s Mill Golf Club

As the cold finally passes us by, we get right back to work out in Moore’s Mill Golf Club with work on Lot 86.  Last week, the guys finished filling in the back porch, which will be a beautiful patio with an outdoor fireplace for the family to enjoy once the home is complete. This week, we will begin roofing and wiring the home and begin the brick work now that brick and mortar selections have been made. Hopefully, we can insulate the house next week and begin hanging drywall! Check back for more pictures as the home comes together!

A look at Barkley Crest

We just started to get the ball rolling in Barkley Crest with a new spec home on lot 9. After clearing the lot a bit and building a retaining wall, the foundation work began and then onto the framing of the home! We are excited to see this one go up and get it on the market for a new family to enjoy. Especially with the newly built CVS Pharmacy and construction of the soon to be Publix shopping center nearby, we hope this one will sell quick! Check out our Barkley Crest link on the site to find more information on this beautiful community! More pictures to come!

Finishing touches!

With only 2-3 more weeks to go, we are beginning to wrap things up in Grove Hill. As the hardwood floor installation is completed, it is time to put the finishing touches together with hardware installation, landscaping, and more. The landscaping contractor, King Braswell with Blooming Colors, has his work cut out for him with this job! Not only does the home sit near a creek, but due to all the past rain and frost, the yard is posing a problem. Currently, Blooming Colors is installing a drainage system and then they will begin bringing in sod. With the swing set already in place in the backyard, our clients are eager to begin moving into their beautiful new home. We are excited to see this home complete! Stay tuned for more pictures!

From mud to ice!

Michael's muddy boots

Michael's muddy boots

From mud to ice, we have seen our fair share of weather recently! The past couple of weeks have brought us rain and mud mud mud! Luckily we invested in a great vacuum to keep up after ourselves here at the office! Each time I step in the door, I leave a trail of mud to my desk! Luckily, as the holiday’s came and went, so did the rain. Only to find that the arctic blasts were on their way to Alabama. You would think our office manager, Laney, originally from south Georgia, had never seen the cold before, not to mention sleet! Apparently they don’t see much of that at the beach. The cold is still here, keeping the ground good and frozen, which makes it hard to get any work done in the home building industry! It’s nice here in the warm and dry office, but I can’t say the same for our guys in the field! Stay warm out there!

Company Christmas Lunch 2009

Just got pictures back from the company Christmas lunch and we want to share! This year, Michael took the crew to Moe’s Southwest Grill out in Tiger Town for some tacos and fun! Michael’s wife, Kelly, also came along, as well as their youngest daughter, Lydia. Dustin Rogers and Andrew Allen, two of the company’s clean up crew members, and Laney Payne, Michael Allen Homes’ office manager, all brought their appetites and came ready to eat! Everyone had a great time celebrating another year at Michael Allen Homes and sharing laughs together. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2010!?!
